Restaurant in Apremont
This is a great little restaurant in Apremont, Les Vieux de la Vieille, that we have neglected to visit for such a long time, but we rectified that yesterday. We called in for lunch at roughly the halfway point of one of our regular cycle routes. We have cycled and driven past many times and always say that we will call in and for whatever reason never seem to do so. More fool us, as the food and service were first class. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes, with some vegetarian options as well. Of particular note is the extensive range of pizza, which can also be pre-ordered to take away.
What was a surprise and a real treat was the Warsteiner (on tap). You can’t beat a nice cold Warsteiner on a warm day! There is a good selection of beers, and the wines list includes descriptions of each wine, which makes selecting the right one to accompany your meal a lot easier, if you are not a wine expert.
We were able to sit on the terrace, which doesn’t have much of a view, because it was warm, but the interior looks very inviting. Don’t let the terrace view dissuade you from calling in.
All in all, this little restaurant in Apremont is well worth a visit, and we will most definitely be returning. The food is excellent and well priced, the staff are courteous, and they have my favourite German beer on tap, what’s not to like! Oh, and it is only 6 km from La Petite Guyonnière.
There is an interesting story behind the name of this restaurant, which translates as the ‘Old Guard’, but that will have to wait until our next blog.
